Born in Anchiano on April 15, 1452, Leonardo da Vinci was an artist who is still famous worldwide for his excellent paintings. The artist died on May 2, 1519 and left behind 21 paintings and an unbelievable number of 10,000 design sheets with 100,000 drawings and sketches. In addition, a diary containing 6,000 of his pages has been found. But you may be wondering what all this has to do with the patent law firm Dr. Herrguth.

OUR CONNECTION TO LEONARDO DA VINCI

Leonardo was not only known as an outstanding artist, but he was also interested in anatomy, architecture and technology in addition to painting. He worked just as devotedly on mechanical works such as construction cranes, clockworks, pumping stations, valves, cams, ball bearings and many other machine elements as he did on his paintings.

He also designed flying machines, the safety of which might be questioned today. However, today's wing profiles are amazingly similar to those of that time. Last but not least, this great artist can be described as the forefather of mechanics. Leonardo da Vinci set a milestone for science and found solutions to unsolved questions.
